I had to cut my inner bearing out with a cut off wheel. I have found that my cut off wheel hooked to an angle grinder is my prefered method of cutting. Just watch the sparks.

Also if you cut with a torch maybe you can keep a steady stream running with a garden hose in the area needed. With the sheet metal under to catch molten metal.
