rdr ,
I have to disagree with you on this . In my experience , and the experience of two of my friends that use ATV tires on their amphibs , this all depends on the tire and its tread design , if you plan to use it on your amphib
These are some examples :
1. The Mud Bug tires will hardly move you in the water if they are facing backwards , they need to face forward to scoop the water . They work better for traction this way too .
2. The Swamp Fox plus , ATV tire , works much better if you face them foward for maximum traction , and also the same way for water speed . They will not scoop the water near as well if they are faced backwards .
3. The High Lifter , Out law , ATV tires , that come standard on the Hydro Traxx 6x6 , are faced forward for maximum water speed . Check out their website . Facing forward , the Out laws scoop the water and propell your amphib forward . This hardly works if you face them back wards .
4. Vampire ATV tires work better for water speed and traction facing forwards
Any ATV tire that you plan to use on an amphib , you will need to study the tread pattern , and this will determine if you face it forward or backward , for water propulsion .

ok take you stock trires and face them foward and see where you go .. around in a circle ... benn there tried that . the princel that makes a tire swim is bringing the water to the center of the tire . not trowing it out robbie
