Oh,OK
You must have really been in a hurry to forget to put your floorboars in.
Did you have anything with you that you thought about after, One of those- "Oh Man, I could have just done .............."
I buried my Conquest in a really bad hole one time, and found out at that point that my winch was not working. I messed with the winch for a bit, but no luck. I was 15.7 miles out in the bush (GPS) at the time, and had not told anybody where I was going, or when I would be back. Shorts, running shoes, and a T-shirt on me, and almost no food or water with me (I did have a gun, and could have survived if I had to). I ended up wrestling a log over to the front of the Argo, and tied it with rope to the tracks, ACROSS the front of the Argo. At this point, sweating and cursing some slivers, I jumped in and fired up the machine. I eased the throttle forward and as the trackes pulled the log under me, the Argo climbed up and over the log, moving me exactly one Argo length. Now, with the log at the back of the machine, I climbed out and cut myself free of the log. I had moved far enough to get out of the hole, and get mobile again, but now I found myself on the wrong side of that sinkhole, with no winch, and no intention of trying to go back through it. It took me about 2 hrs to find an old cutline that would take me back the way I wanted, around that hole, and toward my truck. Several little things were added to my junk list that I always take with me, once I got home from that trip. A winch test is also added to the pre-trip checklist.
Live and learn eh.
