A Stock racers

There have been some discussion about A Stock racers and think this a really fine Idea.
A stock is 0-300cc 2 stroke or 500 cc 4 stroke. Years ago the equivalent Class A, 4 stroke never had a chance against the 2 stroke machine. Now I think its possible with the big block clone engines to be very competitive. Natva rules were a bit loose for 4 stroke stock so we can assume governors can be removed and valve springs shimmed. For under $500.00 an engine there can be allot more racers without having to scrounge up a relic 2 stroke.

B stock 301cc to 340 cc 2 stroke or 567 cc four stroke. I would think 570 cc 16 to 18 hp vanguard v twin would be B stock.
probably not too many 340's around anymore.

I'm starting to get a pretty big collection of unwanted locked up 292-295 jlo's at my house. I think there are 4-5 now. If anyone wants to build one, I will let them go very very cheap!

I was using a 340 the fist time I raced the colt. If the engine was put back together by the person who was borrowing parts from it, I could build a b-stock. That was a strong engine!

I have no interest in racing my 6x6 but I will be the first to admit I am confused by all the classes of these wonderful machines to the point the only one I understand is "springers." Can somebody list a breakdown of the classifications so I can appreciate the difference and really follow along, especially with all the awesome race footage of the recent events. I can't be the only noob that would benefit from a good breakdown.

When did they group the four-strokes in with the two-strokes, Marc? I don't think they had any classification for fours when I was active, but by '75 or so I was away from it. It's not a bad idea as long as we can make it fair. The more machines entered, the better.

The past few years have been pretty lenient as we're still getting more competitive.

Stock: single carb, air cooled
Mod: twin carb, liquid cooled
Junior: under 18
PeeWee: under 12?

And the rest are essentially their title: Springer, 4-stroke, free for all, and over 50.
