Sounds like your secondary clutch is turning when at idle. This can be from your belt being a hair too tight, belt too wide, clutches out of alignment, or idle set at primary clutch engagement rpm....
Would help if you could put up a pic of the inside of machine showing the transmission plungers and what engine you have.
