Got the motor running ok but when I try to turn either way ,as soon as the caliper grabs I can't get any RPM's on the motor and the only way to turn around is to keep "bumping" the handle bars. Has good speed if going straight.????

carb clean? does it run a little better with some choke?
I have a 91 vanguard 6x6 with a 16 opposed twin Briggs, great engine but seems not enough power for the application. Unless I am in low range it seems hard to turn and have to bump the brakes to get the rpm up. It is a lot more that way with the tracks on. Seems like I need to be at full throttle to try to turn. Pulled both primary and secondary clutches, cleaned and inspected both. Everything seems ok. Could just be the nature of the beast. I had a 83 6x6 with a transplanted 18 Kohler Magnum and if I remember it was the same way. Thought just came to mind.....don't recall the governor doing it's job. Something to check out.
Is this a 20hp Kawi engine by any chance?
