Question one side not turning 80s argo 8x8

I have a friend with an 80s argo 8x8 I havent seen it yet and dont know much else about it but he told me when they were riding it one side stopped working and they had to have a couple people push it to get it back to the house I am going to hopefully look at it next weekend and see what the problem is does anyone know what could cause it to happen like mabe one of the calipers on the brakes is stuck etc... I havent worked on an argo before and want to know what to look for on the problem. I have read that there isnt much to them but I will use all the help I can get

I don't think it's a brake issue, sounds more like chain or sprocket at best.Worse case is trans went south on you.Good luck, and hope it's a simple fix.

I am hoping its a chain or a sprocket. does anyone know if the sprockets on the tranny are held on with shear pins or splines or something else?

I once had my key slide out of the keyway on the drive sprocket. there was supposed to be a bolt and washer keeping it from sliding off but the guy I bought it from must have been working on it and forgot to put it back on. Hope this helps and good luck. Mike

Should be 2 keys on the shaft and a bolt in the end.

well I checked it out today and just what I thought the right side caliper was stuck I ran out of time today but tomorrow we will have to take it apart and see why it wont release. I forgot to bring the camera to take some pics of the argo. I also took my ATTEX out there and let some of my friends ride it around most of them havent ridden a six wheeler before and they thought it was the best thing ever Im getting more and more people hooked on these things

Keep up the good recruiting work. It usually only takes one ride to get people hooked.

Mike is right. One ride and lot of people are hooked. Around here everything is a Argo. Prior to buying my first Argo i had never even heard of a Max or Attex. Glad you found your problem.

Keep up the good work on the recruiting.

thanks guys. today we replaced the gas line and filter and freed up the stuck caliper and put in new axle pins because only the four corner wheels turned and stuck the center wheels on. the goodyear runamucks are pretty well shot but they hold air. we took them out and raced around in his big grassy field his argo goes pretty good with that 18hp kohler. here is a pick of his argo by my attex the hood for it is sitting in his shop.
