Thread: Argo 1982 HT 6x6 clutch or drive belt

  1. #11
Different question. Anyone know what the part number on there driven clutch is. I can find salsbury 780 driven clutches online but with a couple different part numbers stamped on them. The manual says 125-38 (152004). These aren't the numbers I'm seeing. Or is a 780 a 780. I'm seeing the 780 with a 1 in bore & a 1/4 keyway and a 8.5 inch outside diameter. Rather match the clutch than guess at belts. Thanks for the help.

    hi
An Argo specialist will respond .
the particular combination u require may well be specific to argo I donot no.

    In general terms
    Mean while 780 drive is very common 3/4 ,7/8, 1 ,1 1/8 bores
The 700 series inclusive of 770 ,780 ,790 ..driven....[ transmission] different diameters 790 fastest etc 770 the slowest
There are torque and speed sensitive and then there are 3 different generations

Somebody may verify the Bombadear is ok to use but without being there to eyeball it ,it is a difficult scenario .
Some things that people donot think about is the angle of the clutches and belt must also work together .

Does anyone know the bore size of the clutch on the argo. It looks to me to be a 1 1/8 in, but when i look for comet/salsbury 780 driven clutches online, all i find is 3/4 , 7/8, and 1 bores nothing in 1 1/8. My manual doesn't give the dimensions, and the part number 1520044 or 125-38 returns no good info for me. Thanks.

Every Argo trans I ever worked with had a 1" input shaft.
