    Battery for HDI

I did a search but didn't find anything so here it goes... Has anyone tried a group 51 or 51R Optima Yellowtop in an Argo HDI? Did it fit? And how did it work? It's -30C here today and I would like a little more cranking power... Just to be safe.

    Thanks

    Hi Sard,
I put an Optima gelled battery in my 2013 hdi as soon as I bought it,I think it is a 1000 cranking amps but it is red.I went to the battery dealership and put the largest size of battery that would fit in the box.I run 120km return trip into our camp in the winter and would not like to walk. I plow at night with my machine and I do not have an alternator and always have lots of battery. Hope this helps.

I put a yellow top in my bigfoot and it has worked great. I will upgrade my 2011 HDi when needed. They are proud of them though.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll measure the one that's in there and try to find something that will fit next time I'm in the city.

This is the size I just installed in my HDI. It is a tight fit but works. Hope that helps you.

That's a big help thanks. I really need to upgrade. The battery that came with it wont turn the moter over at -35C to start it.

I put today 55ah Optima to my HDi. Tight fit but didnt need any modifications. I just put about 10mm thick stuffing under Optima.
