    argo smoke

My 2002 conquest with a 20hp kawa has been sitting for severa months. Started it up tonight to change the oil and it was smoking like crazy. Put it outside for a few minutes and let it run to warm up the oil to make it easier to change....Changed oi and fiter and put in new oi and it still smokes.....

    Any suggestions??????

Push rod off? Look before you answer.

Edit? Perhaps I should ask, was it off?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

    ArgoJim,

Did not check. Woud that cause it to smoke?

Can cause smoke , and if so will take time to clear up. They run surprisingly smooth, with less power, on one cylinder.

Just checked push rods. They all are in place and move freely.

    Any more options???????

This is from the Briggs guys. But these engines are pretty much the same.

    An excerpt:

    Overfilling the crankcase with oil
    Incorrect oil grades
Operating engine at greater than a 15 degree angle
    Inoperative crankcase breather
    Crankcase air leak
    Blown head gasket
    Worn cylinder and/or rings
Turning/tilting the engine on its side for storage, oil change or any other reason.

Argo sat for several months over the winter and when I tried to start for the first time was a little hard to start. After it started and was running for a while (no smoke) I decided to take it for a short run. The argo (20 hp Kawa, 02 Conquest) started to smoke (white smoke) cleared up after several minutes. Must say it brought back some memories from my past army days.....laid down a wicked smoke screen....lol

Sounds as if you may have burnt all the condensation out of the tank.
