    LCD wiring question

    Hi all,

I'm working on a 2008 (I believe) Argo HDI 750 that's having issues with the LCD gauge. The screen intermittently comes on upon start, and when it does it's common for the screen to 'freeze' at some point during operation. The backlight and start-up lights always come on, which tells me the unit is at least being powered.

My hunch is that I've got a bad connection between the computer & the display, & I'd like to track down which wires are involved to test. The wiring diagram I have from the service manual does not include the computer in the schematic, at least not that I can find. Looked on Argo's website & I'm not seeing an further information. Does anyone happen to know the wires I'm looking for here? Or have a schematic they can share?

I did a search of the site & found a similar thread- the advice there was that the display unit itself was likely bad, but no diagnostics were suggested. I'd like to at least pursue the wiring before assuming it's the display....

Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

I've replaced several defective units. Most just loose a section of the display. The install paperwork dosent have much info either. I believe the unit is defective. I have one that has no temp gauge display if you want it I would mail it to you. All of the rest of display works fine. Let me know

That's interesting... have you seen any pattern in how many hours a unit is good for?

I'll definitely take you up on your offer, it would also be a great test for deciding if it's wiring or our display. I'll try to figure out how to send a PM to work out logistics.

I've leant towards moisture in the display, could be grounds though.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

    Wanted to give an update-

I just got the unit Msafi65 sent me installed, and.... it works great.

ArgoJim, I did clean the ground before swapping units. My old unit still had power but no display.... the ground was pretty clean before I touched it.

For the record, 1000 hours on the machine & it apparently did the display in.

Thanks again for all the help! Thank you to Msafi65 for providing the part!

Tony, run it and get it good and warm. That temp guage never came off one bar,it's also the best used one I've removed. I'm seeing a lot of displays that are blank or with spots dead.
