Who is the PRO ? Need help

    Just bought an argo

Problem One : When i put my 1999 Argo Conquest 8x8 in reverse only it makes a noise like a car when i don't push in the clutch. Its like there is no clutch to put it into reverse , you have to put it in reverse really fast to stop it from that grinding sound.

Problem Two : when i try and start the argo, the starter turns for a short time and the starter makes that free spining noise . i have to keep clicking the key untill the starter grabs , then it turns the motor for a very short time and free spins like its turning nothing , then i keep turning the key and it spins the starter . i keep doing this untill it catches and then it starts all over again.

Who can anwser my questions ?

The first problem sounds as if it is simply to high of an idle not allowing the clutches to slow enough to stop/slow the trans down enough to shift. The second riddle sounds as if the starter drive or solenoid magnet may be on it's way out, though I may have read it wrong.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

The second problem sounds exactly like a bad starter drive. The starter drive is the gear and related mechanism on the end of the starter that engages the flywheel. Pull the starter and have a look.

Yup the starter is in need of help like dirtdobber said and slowing your idle down like Jim said will help you shift without grinding but having to shift quickly is normal.
