I wouldn't want to run a gas engine without the mount being tied into the hitch>argo frame. The body isn't strong enough IMHO.

side mount

The side mount does free up the hitch but is tied into the frame at the same location as the hitch(right hand 2 bolts as seen from rear of machine). Also if you are running a tiller type outboard it puts the tiller handle so as you sit on the bench the handle is very convenient. I took pictures and measurements on this hook-up. Are you still interested in the measurements and pics?

Mount

100_0540 obmm.JPG 100_0531 obmm.JPG

Tube is 1.25 square tubing. (do not know the wall thickness)
Bracket is set 13 inches from light.
Square tube length is 15.25 with diamond offset.
tube attachment flat stock is 5.25 and 90 to frame is 3.0 inches with to 5/16 bolts at hitch to frame. 3/16 steel for this part.
Motor mount plate is 9.25 inches long with 2.50 deep to 3 point weld.
Motor mount back plate is 4.50 inches (all plating is 1/8 steel)
Plywood mounting plate is 1 and 3/16 inch.

Angles are noted: first pic is to set back plate at 75 degrees with angle meter as pictured. This is a ruff estimate since i am not completely level due to the vehicle design. Rear wheels about 1 inch off ground in rear.

Square tubing is set at 70 degrees on angle meter and welded in diamond position. I am sure you know what i mean by this.

Hope this helps . I mound a 9.9 4 stroke on this and is pretty sturdy set-up. I am positive a trolling motor will be o.k. on this application. Good luck:

Lewis

Dirty machine

Cougar, if you need anything else as far as measurements let me know.

My machine was pretty dirty i have not had the chance to clean it up this week from the weekend ride. Just thought i would add this, i normally keep it very clean.
