    Big foot 6x6 brakes shaking

    I have a big foot 6x6 that when the brakes are applied the brake handle will jump back and forth. It doesn't matter if done lightly or hard. Although the harder you pull the harder it jumps. I replaced the pads and rebuilt the calipers and changed the brake fluid with dot 5 and same result. After just a couple hours it has already eaten one of the pads about half way.

    Would this be bad disc? What is the best way to check? Thanks for any help with this!!

    Bent brake rotor maybe? Or worn brake sprockets or chains? Are they chains from the transmission loose or tight? Can you see any wear in the rotor or rotor sprockets?

    Sounds like your brake rotors are warped or otherwise damaged. Time for new ones....

    Thanks for the help, is it just a matter of finding the connecting link and taking off the drive chain. Then pulling the disc after I take off the calipers?

    you may have to remove the first tranny mounting bolt( right there as you remove the firewall,horizontal bolt) and get a bar and pry it up in the front a little because the rotor wont clear the big 24 tooth sproket.

    Ok I started taking stuff off tonight.

    I took off the drive belt
    Driven sheave
    Both calipers
    Both drive chains
    Loosened the rear mounting nut.

    Now when trying to tap the brake disc off it says to pry the transmission up so the disc will clear the driven sprocket.using a 16" pry bar it doesn't want to move up. Any thoughts?

    Loosen the 3 15\16 headed bolts.


    My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

    Thanks for the help, I got the disc off they have some rust on them and seem a little warn where the pads contact. What is the proper way to check them or is this just something I should replace and see what happens? Also should I replace the pads while I have them off?
