    Bearing replacement

    Need to replace my bearings for my vanguard 1990
    Do you need to remove the motor to replace the front bearings or can it be done with out
    never will ride anything with less then 6 wheels again

    Hello SweetDaddy,


    You do not need to remove the engine. Remove your firewall and reach up with your allen wrench and loosen the set screws on the interior bearing and remove the bolt in the end of the axle along with the nuts for the exterior flange. Below is a link for instructions. Your bearings may be the 101-29 older style but the concept is the same.

    Thank you everyone for all your help replacing the bearings wasn't as hard as I thought it went pretty smooth one thing is I have seem to of been an axle is it worth getting it straightened at a machine shop or would you guys suggest just getting a new axle
    never will ride anything with less then 6 wheels again

    probably get a new one. depends on age,condition and how much bend is in it. your call

    Depending onn the age and serial number of that machine get a new axle may be hard as some were discontinued, an upgrade is possible but could be costly and require some thought at install. I may have some new axles left depending on what is in it. We have about 20 new obsolete axles and jackshafts as well as some sprockets.


    My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

    roll pin axle is around $150 and new style is around $100. you will need to get a new inner bearing if you dont already have the steped axles..
