Yep, tracks for snow. Tracks for swamp. Tracks for muskeg. It's the flotation they provide (ie; low point loading of generally 1lb per sq/in) that makes them great on soft, "sinky" surfaces.

Pretty much just as maintenance intensive as the old ones. Chains and bearings are something to keep and eye on and to be checked at the beginning and end of the season.

if the electric isn't tied to the oil pressure to run (ie: no oil pressure, no fuel pump) then checking it is easy. Turn the key on and see if it makes a whirring noise or if fuel squirts out the end...
