Don't forget to check your trans fluid. Should be obvious if any water got in after driving it around again for a little bit.

I initially picked our Vanguard up after it was swamped, left by a pond that flooded after some heavy rains. Used the winch on the truck to pull it up on land, let the hull drain, then winched it up...
Disconnect at both ends and hit it with some compressed air? When in doubt, just replace it. Fuel line is cheap.
I've done the old "catch it in a zip-lock baggy held under the drain plug" trick a couple times now. It's not easy, but it's free lol
Personally to me, it sounds like the master cylinder on that side is going bad, letting the fluid bleed through the internal seals and bypass. You can either replace it or I think you can also get...
That's a pretty good idea sir :)
That's sort of the reason why I tried an old Yamaha brake lever that I had laying around. It was a rear brake lever and it had the parking brake built into it....
Ended up getting it sorted out. I simply drilled and tapped a new mounting hole just beside the other. Works great now! Uses the full throttle sweep :)

The cable seems to be a good length. It's the actuation distance of the cable that's keeping me from getting full throttle. I either need a brake lever that will pull the cable farther when pulled,...
I converted our older Vanguard to a generic mountain bike brake lever for throttle control, as the twist throttle would leave both my wife's and my wrist hurting after just 10-15 minutes of riding.

Wouldn't have any older Vanguards would you? Trying to track down some steering levers...

I had a similar issue with mine. Not a 23hp, but a 16hp... After replacing the filter I also pulled the pump apart (vacuum actuated on the engine) and cleaned it. I must have freed up some junk...
Yeah I tried to make the bend so it matched the originals, but I just couldn't get it to go far enough without just kinking and folder over... Apparently there's a big difference between a "tube"...
Just to update this old thread. After trying a few local machine and fab shops, it seems that no one wanted to take my money and build them for me... So fine, I bought some left over tubing from a...
Does that machine use a twist grip throttle like my old Vanguard 6x6? I know that my wrist goes to hurting when operating it after just a few minutes... I'm about to convert it over to a thumb...
You mean they're actually suppose to bolt in? Mine's literally just resting on the frame lol
Yeah the sand method I've heard talked about before. Pool filter sand is pretty cheap, I use to have bags of it laying around as I used it for the substrate sand in my 120 gallon aquarium. I may give...
Yeah I thought about that, two months after I parked it lol, wow it won't fire... I only turned it over for a couple seconds but it didn't even try to start, so looks like the carb is going to come...
The saga continues with this little guy!
It's been parked for a little while because of one of the control levers. The brakes got rusty and stiff, and from the past few times operating it, a...
I wonder what would be interchangeable parts wise between the new classic trans and the older trans like in my 97 Vanguard?
Can't seem to find a parts diagram for the 2020 models like you can for...
