Thanks for the pic ARGOJIM. This will give me a good template to work off of.
Thanks
I used Suzuki Chainlube with S-Moly. Seems to work well and doesn't attract dirt.
I am also looking to build my own winch mount as it seems no one here or online knows where to buy one for a late 70's base model 6x6.
Any build plans or videos you guys come up with I would love to...
That is a very cool looking argo. Nice job.
I am not sure what engine you would use to replace the tecumseh, but if the Tecumseh is still running, I might be interested in purchasing it from you if you are interested in selling. Thanks
Hey Argo-Don, I see you have a similar machine to mine, any chance you could take some pictures of how the winch is installed on your argo.
I am looking to install a winch and no one seems to be...
Also what type of track would you recommend for these older argo's?
I have brand new 22" CARLISLE 22X10X8 Argo Tires on it. Thanks
That you for the info ARGOJIM. So would your suggestion be to put in the time and fix the body sag issue rather than extending the axles or using two sets of tires on each axle? Thanks
That is a good idea. Maybe moving the tires out further using a spacer would provide enough room for a track, but wouldn't that put too much stress on the axles and bearings? Not really sure with...
Now that you mention it, that is a bit of a concern considering these older Argo's use pins in the axles instead of splined axles.
Maybe it would not need tracks if a guy ran duallys??? I am...
Hello,
I am thinking about putting tracks on my Argo, but I see there is not much room between the tire and the body partially due to body sag.
Even if I did fix the sag in the body, there would...
Just wanted to throw out what I did as an idea for older argo owners.

I created a cover for my argo that has a trolling motor mount on it as my argo is too old to find these sort of parts for and I have no metal fabrication tools. I also wanted to keep my trailer...
13623I have a 45lb thrust trolling motor on mine. Works well for my needs. I have not tested mine on a river though, just open water. Did not GPS to see how fast I was going, but must have been at...
Thanks Mike, I didn't know you could get the bearing kits from anywhere, thought they might be proprietary to argo's. Thanks again.
I am still looking for a place to buy these older parts, the only dealer I know of in the area said they do not or cannot get parts for these older models. Anyone have any suggestions? Looking for...
If anyone is interested or looking here is a link to the parts manual I was looking for earlier....
OK I contacted the dealer to see if they can locate part numbers and new axles for me.
Anyone know where I can locate a repair manual for a late 70's model argo 1979?
I had the same issue with my 1979 Argo. I used a premium 93 octane fuel but it did contain ethanol which gummed up the fuel line.
I was pulling out strings of the stuff after letting my Argo sit...
