I have the same problem on a 1998 Conquest. Cracks near both head lights. I haven't tried to fix them yet, but I was thinking about "stich wielding" then using a heat wielder to cover the stiches....

I buy good quality Dirt Bike or 4 wheeler spray on chain lube. The non sticky stuff. Costs are high, but it works great.
