    Finally found an Argo

I picked up a 1985 model Argo 8x8 last weekend. Today we had a get together at our house with a crowd of kids around 5-8 yrs old. I was loading them up and riding through the creek across from our house. The only one who had ever seen one of these was my son. Every time we crossed the creek they were screaming that this was awesome.
It has a transmission issue but it isnt so bad that we couldnt entertain the kids with it.

Congratulations on your Argo. It sounds like you have already put it to good use.

    Roll cage almost finished

Got my cage ready and set in place after painting. Now to bolt it down and install padding before I knock myself out. I have hit it 3 times already and starting to slur and drool. Dont pay the clean shop any attention.

    eightwheeler,

It is a craps shoot on whether it goes into hi or low gear. When riding it sometimes starts beating and popping in the trans. If you get it into a bind it will pop and the left side will stop pulling. You can change directions and it will engage again untill you put it under a load then it jumps out again on the left side. Thanks

Hmm? sounds like some sort of foreign material got in your trans or something broke off and is rolling around in your trans or you have a bad bearing/bushing in the diff

Keep in mind that adding a roll cage will reduce the amount of weight you can carry in water without floating like a crow bar. I have also hear that they also make the machine top heavy, but I'm not sure as I don't have one on my machine...
    Just some food for thought..
