No need to remove the flywheel though dexterity is key.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

When I change my starter on my 18 briggs, I found that pulling the motor was easiest for me. Also I bought a long set of Pennington hemo stats. Made getting the top bolt back in very easy! I am old and not very flexible! I do however have an electric hoist in my garage. I highly recommend them!
