x2 for a 1-3psi pump but I would prefer to keep the diapragm pump setup. It's cheaper, more reliable and perfectly adaquate for the job. KISS
There are performance limitations with the stock pump, fuel tank location and hills. Had both max 4 with Kohler Command cut out going down long steep grades and a Argo Bigfoot going up long steep grades. The solution was to add a 3-4 psi electric fuel pump at the tank and tee it into the existing vac driven pump and return the excess back to the tank through a 1.5 psi check.

If you really want to switch to a electric fuel pump which I'm done on a few machine due to diaphragm pumps failing. I would recommend a screw style pump like these.

The electric diaphragm pumps still fail like the vacuum ones.
I too have experienced a 20hp Kohler Command dying on long downhill treks from lack of fuel.
