New Lexan installed in windshield today.

Well after hours and hours of wet sanding and polishing trying to bring my windshield back from the dead I've given up. I'm not made of money so I didn't want to have to replace it however I could not get it to look the way I wanted it to. What finally sold me on replacing it was when my brother told me that he could get it for me FOR FREE ! It fit right in and it looks awesome ! Wish i hadnt wasted hours trying to save the old one..

How thick is that Lexan? My windshield is all broken up (again) and I was thinking of going with something a little more "robust" like lexan. But all the stuff they have in the hardware store is super thin.

Hey Derek, its 1/8" . i tried 3/16" first, however... it didnt fit in my frame, (if i was paying for it that would have been a costly mistake) . Also, my grandfather had a piece of 1/8" lexan in there already, so I don't know if the rubber gasket had been changed to fit 1/8" or if it's the same rubber that once held the glass windshield in place. Id say, unless you're going to change the rubber , go with however thick your glass is.

when I replaced mine I used scratch resistant polycarbonate form mcmaster carr, it was about 150.00 dollars but worth every penny, strong as heck and does not scratch and i go through some pretty thick stuff and my windshield takes a beating.
