    Windshield support rods

My conquest came with a top made of aluminum tube. It is built to surround the windshield and has attachments to hold the windshield in place via what I believe are the brackets that normally is used for the support rod. Well, yesterday I had the idea that I would take the top off but leave the windshield on and suddenly realized that the support rods are not installed.

I checked the parts manual and the windshield is not included. I haven't walked the isle of the hardware store yet but these appear to be something I should be able to make easily if I can find the brackets and rod ends.

    Any ideas? Dimensions?

Just guessing, is the bracket that connects the rod to the tub lined up so that when the windshield is lowered the brackets line up to lock the windshield down?

    Thanks,

    John

I don't have dimensions handy, but that is just a tape measure away. Grab yourself some light electrical conduit, or aluminium pipe (Whatever length is needed), flatten the ends with a hammer, drill a hole in each end, and bolt or pin the rods in place. No problem.
I have made temporary rods out of willows, that worked fine, while out in the bush.

    Hope that helps

Galvinized pipe 6" sections (2), nipple caps (2), porch mount brackets (2)
Should be under $10.00 at most harware stores.

Hey guys, thanks for the ideas. I've been really busy and haven't gotten back to this thread.

I did eventually track down the Argo part number for the bracket. There is a special parts manual for accessories which I found online.

The stuff is bimini top hardware and the bracket is a straight deck hinge. You can get them very inexpensively in nylon.

I'll probably use conduit because I use conduit for lots of projects and probably have some lying around and then get a couple nylon deck hinges to attach to.
