    ST/400/R pics, info wanted

I bought my first aatv a few months ago. It's a 1970 or 71 ST/400/R with a 400 ccw and 7000 trans. The engine is missing the cooling shrouds around the cylinders and the small stud on the starter is broken off. There doesn't seem to be any type of voltage regulator. The wiring is all cut/spliced, there are holes in front for lights but none there. Did the 400/R come with lights? So anyway, instead of messing with all that I have a Rotax 377 that runs and is all complete including the wiring harness. I'm going to put the ccw on a shelf and use the Rotax for now. The Rotax doesn't fit the original motor mount which is hacked up anyway. I was wondering if anyone had pics of what the original motor mount for this thing should look like. The mount in it may be original, in the front it bolts between the trans and trans mount. In the rear is a trapazoid shaped bracket bolted to the frame with rubber mounts on top between that and the motor mount. Why would it be rubber mounted in the rear but not the front? Building a mount won't be hard, i just have to copy what is there but make it a little wider. I just want to make sure that's how it should be. Another question I have is, I heard the ST/400/R came factory with a roll bar, was that optional or standard? Mine doesn't but has holes drilled that look like they are for a windshield but maybe that's where the roll bar went? Does anyone have pics of the factory roll bar? Or any pics of an ST/400/R? I've checked all over the board but haven't found what I'm looking for.

Thanks, that answers 2 questions. They had headlights and rollbar must have been an option since that doesn't have one. Can't read what it says though.

Yes, I believe the roll bar was an option. You could also get the windshield too. Do a search for ST/400/R information on the site and some interesting stuff will come up. The "R" models had two extra teeth on the Baker Hill transmission (15 instead of 13) to get a higher top speed. Just an interesting fact.

Here's another member in California that got a 400/R. This thread will help you find out some more info on your Attex.
