Trying to post pics now. I was told it was a 500cc 2 cycle 2 stroke motor. The guy I goy it from never drove it and he bought it from original owner. He said it had a charging problem, so will have to be addressed. I'm def going to need this site for help. I have two Polaris rzr's hand have no clue about this one.
Looks like the electrical is missing? Is there a place to buy parts for these machines? The original exhaust is out and was going to get two stainless piece of sheet metal and pop rivet it. Have a exhaust reroute to the top. Any pointers , advice, would be greatly appreciated, Brad.
That's a Superchief, Brad. It's one of the most fun machines made, and the fastest production amphibious six-wheeled vehicle to date (some will argue that point). To be honest, the Chaparral charging system isn't very good even when it's working right. The most common problem is the rectifier/regulator, and they can be found from internet and mail-order sources. As far as the muffler goes, Attex offered a high-mount exhaust that came out the left rear top of the engine cover. I have one out and I'll try to get a picture of it posted.

I think I did good on this one. I'm needing a tire/rim and the rectifier. I'm a millwright so not good at electrical, I'm going to give it a shot though, I paid $750 for it. I can't wait to drive it in some water. Whats the best parts house out there ? I called one awhile back for advise but don't recall the name of the place.

Here's a couple pictures of the high muffler Attex offered for machines equipped with tracks. All they did was take a stock muffler and shorten it a bit, angle the inlet, then add a heat shield and legs. Some already have an elbow at the outlet and some don't, but this application needs one. I've made a few like this and it's not tough to do.
This site is one of the best sources for parts that I know. If you start a thread in the "wanted" section, someone will most likely either have what you want or know where to get it.

I was wondering what this was? Looks like some kind of bracket? Other pic is showing an orange liver which would be close to your left foot.

The orange-tipped lever actuates the front brakes. Take the front floor pan out and it'll be quite obvious. The other bracket is the rear support between the upper and lower bodies that the engine cover hinge mounted to. The rivets or screws that are holding the body halves together in the first picture suggest that the tubs have been split apart at one time. If you already have a bracket in there, this is a spare. If not, they forgot (or didn't care) to put it back in. It's important... put it back in if it's missing.
Ok, thanks! I don't have much room in my garage at all right now to even walk so I'll have to do some cleaning and get it apart to get a better look. I'm going to look for some pics on here as to where exactly the bracket goes. Yes, I had to put them bolts in to get it home. I'm not really sure why the previous owner had it all apart. It's in great shape with no Rust.
