I have 1" taper lock sprockets on my suspended Gotcha that have been bullet proof. Keyed sprockets on a trail machine should be fine if you use spacers between the sprocket and bearings so it can't shift sideways. You also need to locktite the set screws which I change to 1/4 " bolts for easier tightening and removal. I do have keyed sprockets on my center and back axels on my springer racer, but they need to be beefy and I have to retorque the set screws after every race because of the high torque and horsepower.
Well I took this machine out last weekend and beat it pretty hard and all held up well!!! put stainless keystock in place of the mild ones I sheared off !! all is well so far
just an fyi for anyone wanting to switch from bolt through sprockets
thanks
