Well I have replaced the points and have very good spark. Also rebuilt top end. Now I need a procedure to set the timing. Still won't start but get an occasional pop on starting fluid. Gonna tack apart carb and clean it. Any other advice?

Try YouTube for a timing procedure or maybe look in the manuals section on here for attex and it may be in there also.
Good luck and keep us posted
    Thanks

Rebuilt top end and replaced points. Have tried setting the timing in multiple different positions. Had the carb off and cleaned twice. Wont run on ether either. Still cant get it to run. Any suggestions on what to do next? Getting pretty aggravating.

A simple yet possibly overlooked issue. Is the starter turning in the correct direction?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Didn't try gas. Will tomorrow. Tried spray in carb. It has popped 3 times on 3 different battery charges.

Pull the recoil and watch rotation.
