max 2 horizontal steering , throttle

the original throttle setup on my max 2 was getting hard on my right hand . so i changed to horizontal handles . instead of making new complete levers , i bought 2 weld mount tubing clamps for 7/8 '' o.d. tubing from mcmaster carr ( part # 3015T26 ) i welded a 4'' long 7/8 '' o.d pipe 4'' long centered on the threaded plate side of the clamps ( take them off to weld ) . then tightened each one on the tops of the steering levers . bought a twist grip throttle set for 7/8 '' o.d. tubing with a 60 '' long throttle cable . works great and much easier on my hand . and i like the way it steers . johnboy va

sorry ...i'm terrible at taking and putting pics on here . it was a very simple changeover . i left the original steering levers just as they were , just removed the grips and finger throttle . quick weld of the 2 ..7/8'' x 4 '' long pipes to the metal clamp piece and bolt them on . seems to be quite a few places to purchase the twist throttle and cable and dummy grip . if it's also a max 2 you want to do ... i needed a 60'' long cable . any questions ? thanks trev jboy

yeah this site is not easy to uplaod pics. done many upgrades to my argo that others mayfind interesting or helpful but getting pics to the public here stinks. as a side note my argo has the old style tillers/ levers with a twist grip throttle and I changed it to a bike brake lever finger throttle. I find it better throttle control over bumpier terrain.

thanks for the reply John, another deficiency on this site since Mike and many others left this site.

i like the bike brake lever idea ... mat give a shot soon . twist grip is nice , but to get full throttle i have to move my hand once . still easier on me than the original max 2 throttle . jboy
