Just a little update as I recently had a conversation with Matt O. about his Attex Bigfoot. I expressed how upset my son Jason was when he saw the pictures Jim had posted of the Bigfoot sitting outside in the weeds. Matt told me it was up and had 16 tires on it again and was in the shop the last few months but had to be pushed outside only recently as it is really big, takes up a LOT of room and they needed inside space for their Mudd-Ox expansion. He is getting an addition put on one of the buildings just to house the Bigfoot and some of the other vintage AATVs. We talked about the expense of just getting it back running as it needed two motors, two clutch sets not to mention 4 sets of tracks. Seems the tracks turn brittle when they sit out in the sun for 30+ years. I have donated factory tracks from my Superchief to Matt to help with his restoration. I am trying to get hold of L.D.Bruce as I thought he had a set of the correct vintage tracks also. I am not sure what else Matt needs but maybe others who might have the correct engines or clutches or track segments lying around and of little use might donate to this worthy cause also. My take on Matt is he is not out to make a buck on this old stuff but actually wants to try and preserve it. Just needs to keep his Mudd-Ox project healthy so he can fund the restoration and preservation for us and future 6x6 enthusiasts.

I came across a Bigfoot last week. On Rigs of Rods (How ATV's Were Born) "Off-Roader" has not so secretly posted a picture of one he has. I remember seeing one on eBay several years ago listed somewhere down South, it was pictured parked outside under a tree, apparently rusting away. I wonder if he got that that one, or if it's another.

oops that's the picture, sorry, somehow I must have been replying in a different part of the thread and I didn't see that here. However, I am curious if that was the one I saw listed on Ebay. I remember I was very disappointed I didn't have anything to get it with.

Do we know yet what exact parts it needs besides the tracks? I may have a JLO 399/2 available over late winter.

I talked with Matt tonight, he said the engines did not need to match but I think they would have. Do they list the engines in the brochure on the site? He has driven clutches but needs the drive clutches for the engines he ends up using.

    Hi Guys,
Yes Ranger Rick this is the same Attex Bigfoot you seen on ebay about 6 or 7 years ago now. I purchased it from the son of the last owner of Attex. His father had passed away and he was selling off some of the old Attex stuff. I bought the Attex Bigfoot, a Attex Winsue, and a shop press that was in the attex factory. We press our wheel studs into the Mudd-Ox hubs with the press still today!!! I somtimes wonder what it would have been like to go through the Attex factory. I also have a drawing on how to mount a snow plow on a Attex that was in the factory. I have the Attex bigfoot sitting on 16 qty 22x12x8 Goodyear rawhide 3 tires. I am in need of the 13" argo plastic track. That is what Attex used on this machine. It will not drive without tracks as only the front and rear tires have drive chains. The center wheels are not powered. I want to thank Keith for his track donation. If anyone has a set of tracks they would like to sell I would be interested in buying them for this project. I will post some photos as we make progress.

    Matt

Very cool to know, Matt! I see some deals pop up on those plastic Tru-Trax every now and then on Craigslist. If I see anymore I'll be sure to forward a link to you immediately so we can see this beast move once again.
