    No Crank 2nd Time Bigfoot

Last week the 98 Bigfoot, 18hp, 75 hrs briggs would not crank.

Battery charger said it was charged.

Did a search here and went connection by connection removed and cleaned all the pos and neg in the starting circuit. Nothing

Pulled the solenoid it clicked in and out when I applied power. Reinstalled it. Nothing. I dont think its origanal as its a 4 pole. Not sure.

Still nothing so I pulled the battery and took it in. It tested marginal so I replaced it. She cranked and started up.

This week It started right up. Used it for an hour. Parked it.

This morning no crank again. Battery showing 100% using a charger.

My thoughts are to replace the solenoid and the ignition switch but have nothing to base that on.

    Thoughts. Suggestions?

jump the solenoid from the two power lugs with a jumper, if it starts then replace the solenoid. just because it clicks does not mean its making the connection.

If you hold it and it starts could be bad spot it starter

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thank Guy! I'll get back at it next Saturday with a jump wire.

Well I decided to call Fox Valley Monday to get an OEM solenoid on the way. Got here today. Thank you Doug.

Going to slap that on Saturday. See how that goes. Figure I'll spend some time with some cable management while I'm at it.

Watch this space for an update.
