    Kohler VTwin Not Charging

The Kohler Command 20HP V-twin in my '01 track Max II seems to not be charging the battery. I am horrible with electronics and need some help from you guys on this one. The ammeter is working because it shows a discharge when it is starting or when the lights are on, but it doesn't show a charge and my battery keeps wearing down. Is there something like a voltage regulator or something that I could test to find out if it is the issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

first thing to check is the battery its self. charge it fully then and load test it (most auto parts stores will do it free if you don't have a tester). if the battery is junk, or going bad, it won't take a charge anymore, and the battery can go dead pretty quickly just sitting.

Thanks for the quick response, Brian. I just put a brand new battery in it today.

    Jeff,
Here this link shows you how to test the stator if bad. I had this problem with my Attex in the fall. It shouldn't be to bad a fix.

Thanks Drew, that's an excellent site for reference. I'm going to play with it tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I found a used working stator, coils, and voltage regulator, so if any of those are bad, I'll pick them up.

I wonder if any other Max owners have had this charging issue too.
