My guess would be the regulator.
The coil under the flywheel will produce voltage when the magnet on the flywheel "excites" it. This will be an AC voltage usually around 30 volts at driving RPM range. (it will make large fluctuations with RPM)
The voltage will be minimal at idle.
The regulator will rectify (change to DC volts) what the stator puts out, and regulate it to about 14 volts.
Check the 30 amp inline fuse and plug in front of the engine.
Other members have had the socket corrode,heat up and melt.
You might need to replace the socket and fuse.
