Have you checked for any loose/broken wires/connections????
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

+1 on checking the wires. Grounds have tendency to come loose on me a lot.

bolts on your ground can rust and inhibit the flow of electricity, but this sounds like bad contacts in the starter solonoid. Clean your grounds and it will get a little better but won't go away if your sol. contacts are bad I wonder if you can put an old ford remote start sol. on it like they used to bolt to the fender well?

If you are jumping the wire to the solenoid and it is starting, may be a ground or the switch, try some penetrant or contact cleaner in the key slot.

Sometimes it is the starter solenoid itself. The one on my hustler went out after the last fall Busco. One trip and it died.

Solenoids on Kaws are part of starter.
