    Vanguard Oil Pressure?

Hey guys, new to the site, just bought a max iv with an 18hp vanguard a few weeks ago and the site has been a huge help so far. I have tried to search with no luck. My amp gauge was not working so I decided to install an oil pressure gauge instead and now I'm paranoid. The gauge barely moves at an idle, get about 12-15psi at mid throttle and about 25 psi at WOT. Seems low to me, Is this normal? Any tricks to get it up a little?

    Thanks
    Justin

Hello Justin, welcome to 6x6world. Is the new unit mech or elec? The first thing I would do is take a good old fashioned mechanical gage and see if it really is the engine or if your just getting incorrect reading from the new unit.

I've found that some mechanical automotive gauges that read above 60lbs don't read right on small engines and are slow to come up. 40lbs @ 3500r's warm is what I find.

Thanks for the input. It's a brand new autometer electric. I'm working on getting a mechanical gauge to do a comparison. From your post I'm going to take it that's low if it isn't the gauge?
