    Personally, its on the bench, so pick up some new head gaskets and pull the heads. The I/C Twins will run hot easily, so keeping them clean is key.

    Are you bringing it down to idle first, and letting it idle for 5-10 seconds? If not, its just dumping all the unburnt fuel into the exhaust and thats what causes the "pop"

    Set intake at .005-.007" and exhaust should be set at .010-.012". Reason exaust is set with more gap is that the exhaust valves expand more then the intake due to the heat of the exhaust gasses....

    Type F is a type of automatic transmission fluid. Its a little thicker then the normal Dexron 3 that GM and others use. Type F was introduced by Ford in 1967 for their automatics. Also used by Toyota.
