Thanks Jim. Measured them a while ago as I've read of different lengths. They're all the same length more or less. Might be a 1/16" or so difference. Dropped them off at the machine shop this morning. They're gonna make em all matching. Hopefully they get it done today since I have the truck today. Would really like to ride the bike the rest of the week.
Had you had the factory stepped style axles they would have been longer, cutting the step the same size would then ( with the axles mixed) make running tracks a tire wearer. Ideally if you had a newer axle, cutting the older style axle's step shorter would allow replacement later 1 at a time if needed.
If your machine had the locking collar style bearing, the newer 101-41 bearing will move the axle inward slightly.

If there is a difference between them, it sure isn't much. Unless for some reason previous owner turned down the step on 4 of them and not the other. I dunno. I don't have tracks, so that's no worry. I have labelled all the axles as they came out, and all the original style with no step were all on the right side, the newer style ones were all on the left. That's how they'll go back in as well, so allignment won't be an issue. At least maybe until I start replacing stuff. Replacement was the #1 reason for getting the step turned on the older axles. #2 reason was I like that design much better.
Picked up all my parts on the weekend. Forgot to take pictures of all that, but I did get some pictures of the frame after cleaning it up and slapping a few cans of rattle black on there. Feast your eyes!
I know, nothing too fancy, but it's a start! Hope to get right into things this week, if the rain decides to let me do anything. Not much room inside to work.

Cleaned up the axles and threw some paint on them too. Put the studs in and put the new nuts on. Tried out the electric fan, works good, and I have a backup one too. Will have radiators stacked. They're a KTM rad, its stamped in the side. Thought that was neat. Hope to get it all back in the tub this week. Then it will take up a bit less space.

Hi guys. I know, I've been slacking on the posts. I had a few hours in the last week to get stuff started. Frame is back in the tub, rear axles are in, two mid ones on left side. Hopefully tonight I have time to get a few more in. Made some good thick washers for on the end of the axles. Other than that everything is a pain to get lined up as you're putting it all back in, it's going together well. Hopefully I can snap some pictures for you guys tonight.
Worked a bit more since last post. All bearings and axles are in now. Trailer hitch is on. Checked to see if my radiators will fit in the space I want to put them in. They fit real nice! Took my chains to work and ran them through the parts washer, then a cycle in the bake oven, then dunked them all in gear oil. Tonight I will try to put them back on. Found out that they're Renold chain. Not in too bad of shape. Hopefully I get done tonight when there's still some sunlight so I can get you guys some pictures.
