I am not sure what problem you picked up when you raised the top. It sounds like you may have disturbed a power termination somewhere. I was going to recommend that you check all of the wires going in and out of the ignition switch. I found a loose one on my Max IV after just a few hours of operation. One of the female clip connectors had backed off of the blade on the switch body. I don't know if I caused it when I was looking around in there or it was just not seated all the way when they built the machine.

It probably wouldn't hurt to go through your machine and check all of the connections from the battery, through the ignition switch, and out to the end devices. Make sure you check your ground connections too.

Holy cow, a lot goin' on there. give Me a few hrs and I'll see if I can mock up some coils and wire on a block and post what I'm talkin' about. are You sure it fires on both cylinders? they won't if the kill wire is not connected between the two coils.

throwing money at it is always an option I guess I would think any MuddOx Dealer in the UK would be more than happy to drain the ole checkbook. Duty fee's and taxes from anything over here would also be pricey, I thought I read He just wanted to get it running and push it off.

    I'll shut up now...

Thanks guys, if I was keeping this one I would get 100%, but it was my first one and it always bugged me not stoppning on the key like my other! so thought I would try and sort it for its next rider, I will order the wire for the coils and put a cut out switch to kill the engine, its been well messed with and tatty so needs to go and yes prices are very high here for the Max parts! still not sure why the last owner has done this? Thanks again for your help.

can You see the wire that goes from both coils? if that wire is grounded to the engine it has to shut down. or that wire has a break in it.
