My friend runs a small engine shop and told me with modern oils he runs 50:1 in everything unless 80:1 or 100:1 are called for buy the manufacturer. I run 50:1 in my old merc outboard all the time. Factory was 25:1 in 1977. With Tanaka oil it dosent even smoke. The original mix was with standard engine oils.
