Dang Jerry, did you get the Department to reimburse you on those, or you just decide to become a cam collector?

I guess if we come to your backyard for a ride, you're supplying the head cams!

Did you find the laser on the vholder usefull for aiming..

I guess all three have some good features.

I had the Flip Ultra but never took it out because I was afraid it would get damaged. Then I bought the Vholdr and the day after I ordered it I saw a really good deal on the Go Pro Hero. It was being sold by a pro motocross rider and he is sponsored by Go Pro so he had some product to sell.

The Vholdr is much more solid and better built, the lazers are nice because the lens can rotate so it can even be mounted upside down, yet the video will be right side up.

It uses a micro SD card which I don't really like and the software is PC and I'm a Mac guy. So I just transfer the files and don't use the software on any of them. The Vholdr only comes with one mount so for a helmet it would be great. But I like to use it on the bicycle, ATV, and the car. I am going to make a mount to attach the camera mount to it.

The Go Pro Hero came with 4 mounts, For the ATV it came with a head strap, then another strap on mount, then two stick on bases; one flat, one curved.
It is a small Chinese made camera in a very nicely built housing.

The flip Ultra gives immediate feed back and a visual on the aim.

It's good to see prices so affordable on these cams, esp the Flip. Dave, your shirt pocket idea works pretty good, if you sit just right, maybe experiment with different shirt/pockets Maybe velcro patches sewn on so you could move it higher or shim it out at the bottom.. not a bad camera position, though.

That VirtualDub software has a "DeShaker" filter that smooths out bumpy video. Havn't used it yet, as it requires "thought", lots of settings, etc. Might partially make up for not having an image stabilized cam..

Jerry ,

Thanks for the great video with the Flip . I have visited lots of websites , and Vhodr forums , so I,m very familar with it . I will say this though , I really like reading a personal testimony from some one I know a lot better . This gives a different perspective . Its amazing to me , the number of small video camera,s , that are made for sports use .

Until you mentioned the Go Pro Hero , I,d never heard of it . The Video camera I,m really leaning towards now , is the new VIO POV.1 Ultimate . It has a wide angle lense , is water proof to 3 meters, mildly shock proof , comes with its own CD , uses XVID codec , large POV.1 online forum , exellent customer support , plus a 30 day , and a money back guarantee if you,re not happy with it . Its a CMOS Sony camera , so it uses less battery . I realy like the simplicty of the POV.1 Ultimate . Please post a good video of the Go Pro Hero . I,d love to see it . I really like all the mounting options the Go Pro Hero has .

I,ve now decided to use any other video hosting website other than Utube . Utube really destroys the video quality , no matter what your original file looked like before you compressed it .

Roger ,

I have called Bass Pro shop , and also Accademy Sports , to see if either of them sold a mount that a camera would fit in , and attach to at the bottom ( The Flip has a screw in mount )

As I was driving around today during errands , I thought of a crude way , but efficent way , to mount my Flip Ultra camera for a better point of veiw . This idea will save me from constantly having to lean back , just so I can make the camera angle look right .

Here is my idea :

1 . Wrap my Flip camera in a sanwich of thick card board , with a hole for the Flip camera lens

2. Wrap a bungie cord all the way around my chest right under my arm pits , to enclose a Card board sandwich , with the Flip video camera inside.

This way you can see my hand work the sticks , and have a better point of view from the drivers seat .

Keep in mind, the purpose of Youtube is not to allow high quality video but rather to facilitate the sharing of video. I would bet you any video you post with a link (like your putfile videos) will get clicked on 75% less than a youtube (or any other embeddable) video.
