Argo vs max and Seating and comfort and other general question?

I read a thread on here and many others on what is better max or argo,It seemed most it just came down to preference. So im not going to ask that,Well not directly anyway.

Im still looking at getting one of these "more like working on the wifes approval" but im getting closer! So im trying to narrow it down to a particular model and most likely I will be looking to get a used 6x6 as they are more in my price range and would be easier to transport and store.
So me using one of these would be purely for fun riding,I dont work or hunt etc. and when out I will most likely be riding by myself but if we do take a family trip,would me and the wife fit together? I seen vids but most of the vids I seen had 2 adults in a newer argo with the handle bars,What about the older argos without handlebars or a max where it looks like the control sticks are dead center? At first I wanted a argo just because I think they look much better,but the more I read it looks like the max would be better suited for me with the leg room,but I would like to fit at least one more person with me from time to time,maybe someone out there could shed some light on that issue.

So as of right now I went from wanting a argo,to a max,but then the more I read I keep changing my mind. I read I think in the same thread or maybe not but people said the argo was better seating and storage arrangement but the max was better because of the true 6x6 "not the slip diff like the argo" max floated better in the water but people seem to agree that the max is less watertight of the 2. But the statement that stuck with me was that the argo was Built like a tank and tougher then the max,Would you agree that the argo is better built?

Lastly I been looking online at a lot of used machines and more then a few times I seen has no title,some claim it never had one,some people say all you need is a bill of sale etc. So should all of these have some type of paper work,or did they not come with it in certain years or what?

I cannot speak for the max....As for the argo...I have a 6 wheeler and an 8 wheeler. There is plenty of room for me and the wife to sit in the front of either with lots of room for storage in the back.....IMO the 8 wheeler is a better riding machine due to the longer wheel base...it rides smoother...not so hard on the back and rides over obstacles easier....As you stated you will not be using it for hunting or work.....the 8 wheel is not that much longer then the 6 wheel so for transport a little bigger trailer can solve that problem....hope this helps some...someone else can jump in with toughts on the max...

I have a hustler 6x6 and an argo 8x8. They both have their good and bad points. The argo has the differential transmission while the hustler has a t-20 (just like a max). Both work very well they just have different feels. On the argo, if one side gets too much traction just apply the brake to that side and more power will get transferred to the other side. On the T-20 transmission, pushing the sticks has the same effect. My argo seats me, wife, and 2 kids just fine.

As for riding comfort, they both have a front and rear seat. On my hustler, it's me in the front + wife in the back. Or me in the front + kids in the back. All 4 is too much. On my argo, I can seat 2 in the front and 2 in the back comfortably.

Many states do not title AATVs. A bill of sale is the ticket. Contact your local DMV and DNR for more information.

There are LOTS of opinions here.......my chevy is better than your ford, etc. Both machines are good machines, and it is all personal preference. Argos more often come with the optional skid plate, but I assure you that a Max without holes in the tub is every bit as water "resistant" as an Argo. As far as being built better I'm not sure what you mean. Both are made from the same stuff. HDPE bodies, steel frames, 1 1/4" axles (late model machines) similar engines....the big difference is the trans. I agree the Argo's are more stylish, but the t-20 is a fantastic transmission.
If I were you, I would plan on attending 6x6 Racing in Ashtabula, Ohio June 23-24 2012 There you will be able to check out all kinds of machines, and get some test rides.....probably even some test drives. See what you prefer.
You will also be very close to Leo's Argo Leo's Argo Stop by and test drive one there. Maybe even go on to Buffalo (2 hrs from Ash.) and visit Recreatives.

Buggyman gave some good advise. Go to ashtabula and see them all at once first hand. I myself have a few attex and have no problem running it with my wife and a kid all sitting next to each other. Mind you we are not large people but no problems. The max II is actually more comfortable for the driver due to more leg room than the max iv. It also sounds like you were reading some of jpswifts post. He is a great guy and knows his stuff but he is a T-20 guy and has no room for an argo in his large fleet. I tend to agree with him but it is like asking a chevy guy if the ford you just bought is as good as his chevy and vise versa. Finally, Dan67 mentioned his Hustler which brings up a great point. You should not get your heart set on any machine, and keep an open mind in your search. Hustlers, Swamp Fox's, Attex's, and many more are all very capable machines and who knows what kind of deal will come up during your search. As a t-20 guy, most of what I would buy is going to have one with only a few exceptions. I do not know a lot about different argo's, but the Bigfoot, Vanguard, Conquest, and Magnum are some of the more recent ones. The older ones seem to have an array of different tranny's both good and bad, but only the experts know difference.

I agree with Buggyman. From Eastlake, get yourself to Ashtabula or take a drive to Recreatives. You're lucky to be so close to both.

As far as a title, if anyone purchases a new Max, you get a "Certificate of Origin" & a bill of sale. If you plan on getting it registered & insured, the main concern seems to be where the sales tax was paid. Some private seller's might have that stuff, along with things like the Operator's Manual & some won't have a clue where they put it or can't find it, or never had those things passed on to them. Most people aren't concerned unless they need/want to register their vehicles in their states. A bill of sale is "usually " sufficient to get the ball rolling.

I can not compare the Max to an Argo, but I can speak about the seating capacity of the Argo. It's not uncommon to see me and my 3 kids stacked across the front seat. There is more than enough room for 2 large adults in the front seat. Legroom is a little tight for tall people.
I would also like to second the comment made about the 8x8 option, there is not much difference in the overall size of the machines, but the 8x8 seams to have MUCH more cargo room and the ride is better.........in the terrain I ride.

How is aftermarket parts,like tracks and other accessories,pretty easy to get for both? I guess the same could be said about replacement parts,easy to find and about the same prices and maintenance and repairing?

I am a chevy guy but own a ford I was a trucker guy , But now own a argo
I sure do like the room the 8x8 has. What ever you get make sure you can take the family in. Because after one ride you will not be able to keep them out of it.
It will be a pain if you can only one other person
