Hello all, Thomas is the name. I live in Vicksburg, Mississippi and have been studying Max's for 20 years or so and have finally found one. I just picked up what is reportedly a 97 Max IV with a 16 Vanguard and what I believe to be hollow axles riding on 25x12x9 Goodyear Rawhide III's. It's in pretty sweat shape, fired it up and scooted around the yard then loaded it up and brought it home for $1500. I need to clean the fuel tank and carburetor, then do some routine maintenence, cleaning, greasing, oiling, adjusting, etc. Looking forward to hanging out with you guys, I'll try to not get in the way, just glean information from you all! Hope to make a ride one day soon!
I'll post up some pictures tomorrow, I love pictures!
Thomas
Hey everyone. My name is Drew and I just bought a Max 2 from a coworker. We literaly just got done loading it on my trailer, LOL. Anyways I don't know a whole lot about it but it is rough and will need alot of work. It has the Tech 16hp engine and serial number 7462. I called RI yesterday to get some info but no one has called me back yet. I'll start a thread for this project as soon as I get my 94 Cobra out of the garage and get a chance to start on this.
EDIT- Just got ahold of RI, my Max 2 is a 1985 model.

Thomas and Drew, welcome to the site and congratulations to both of you on your recent Max purchase.![]()
Thanks mike. My name is Norman and I am new to 6 wheelers. Rode motorcycles all my life.
Bought a old max ii not running with broken sprocket. It had set for long time. Now it runs, but left side
Does not pull forward or reverse. Any ideas short of rebuild of skid steer. Thanks
Hi Norman, welcome to the forums. I would start by looking at the shift linkage, chains, etc on the left side. Then check the shift pin (search the transmission forum for more info regarding the shift pin). If that doesn't help, try starting a new thread in the transmission forum.
Live in gallatin, TN and new to the wheeling community. Just purchased a 1999 Argo conquest. Family into kayaking local streams so I thought the Argo would be my lazy mans kayak. First I found I need tires with tread. So looking at aquas. After my first day out I came back to the house and washed it off including u Der the hood. Mistake. Now it will not start. Got a lot to learn but should be fun. Might even get me to learn a little about mechanics.

HI Im Gary. I just moved back to Louisiana for my retirement. I had looked at the ARGO bigfoot and MAX II a number of years ago. Ended up buying a regular 4 wheeler. Now I am gonna get what I want. It will be a 6x6 or 8x8. Anyone know of any deals out there. I don't mind travelling a bit to pick it up. I will be using it for hunting and going places where most people cannot go. I am also interested in some organized rides as well. I am a decent cook and can cook some good cajun dishes or barbeque.
Hi gary,Welcome to the site. There are quiet a few members in the Louisiana, texas area thathave some good rides and may have a machine for sale.Good luck.
