See ya in June?
Hello everyone. I have a 2007 Max IV with 18hp Vanguard. It is bone stock. I just got it last week. There is alot to learn on these things, but everything seems pretty straight forward to work on.
I am from Western NY, between Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA. I am looking forward to meet everyone. Thank you for this great forum. So many knowledgeable people on here. I am sure I might have a question or two... :)
Jim

Good Morning All,
First time Argo owner, long time fan. I just purchased a 1998 Bigfoot 6x6 for my 16 year old son. He has started his own trap line this year to make money for his university education.
I wanted to make sure he was as safe as possible out there, as we trap in some pretty nasty country in Manitoba Canada and it gets real cold, so I thought the Argo was the best bet for the job. This machine is in immaculate condition, came with 2 sets of tires,
the supertrax, winch, boat motor mount and a full top. I am dying to get it out on the line and see what it can do.
Please feel free to move this part to another area, if it needs to be ( that is why I separated it)
Here is the problem, the guy selling it to us ran it out of gas on the way to loading it in the trailer. As the machine has a mechanical fuel pump it has been a bear to get started. They tried on their end pouring gas into the carb to make it run
to get the pump to pull up the gas so it would stay running. I also tried it on my end on Saturday after we got home from the trap line and almost had a complete disaster. Long story short Argo sputtered when short on gas and as I tried to add more it backfired
a flame ball setting me and the Gatorade bottle I was holding on fire. Got the fire put out on the carb right away with no apparent damage, my hand didn't fair quite so well ended up with a couple nasty big blisters on my hand and a couple lesser burns to my face.
Does anyone know how you can start one of these things when you run it out of gas? I can't believe there isn't a simpler/safer way. I am considering the idea of a small inline electric fuel pump, but it runs so well, when it was running that I didn't really want to change anything if I didn't have to. Really want to get this thing out on the trail soon, and I don not want to go up in flames again!
Thanks..... Dano
Mike,
Thanks for the welcome message!
Welcome to the board undertanker and Trapper Dano, I'm new here as well.
Hello All,
We have recently bought a 1997 Argo Vanguard II on 13" standard plastic tracks to access our log house at the end of a 2.1 km unplowed trail. The snow in the woods is deep, loose and uncrusted this year so the tracks have been a disappointment. I now have an order in for some Chaneltracks from Marcel Cousineau and am looking forward to more riding and less winching. I have been admiring Argos for years but this is my first ATV, so expect questions. Thanks. John
