    T20 band adjustment during rebuild

I am rebuilding my 1979/80 T20 for my Max IV. I've got both halves done minus the center carrier plate. I was wondering if the hole in the carrier plate goes towards the bottom. Also has anyone ever adjusted the bands while the case was still apart. If anyone has please let me know how you did it.
    Thanks,
    Mike

The carrier plate can only fit into the case one way; the band anchor pins at the front of the transmission each insert into a hole in the carrier plate. I honestly forget where the large through-hole is when it's lined up, but it's near the bottom. You really can't adjust the bands accurately without assembling the transmission, either. You might be able to get close, but it's best to get the transmission all assembled and adjust them.
