How about a primary drive from like a harley davidson for a belt drive? Maybe that would work...

    Thanks for the PM..

I think for me the Optimas would work fine if I did this. My concern is trying to get a motor to work inexpensive enough....heck I still want diesel.....maybe elec for bombing around the town and then call it a hybrid and be license free!

If I remember right when I was in shop class playing with the mills, it appeared they used some sort of cvt type pulley system to control the spreed.
Yeah that would be neat, but it sounds expensive. Even the synchronous toothed belt and pulleys I've looked at aren't cheap

Possibly, if the belt length, shaft sizes, and pulley ratios work out. Plus the cost issue again. Turns out it's hard to beat chain and sprockets for efficiency and cost.

I don't think they should be too much going through the right sources... although, I don't know right now.. I'll keep checking for belts and pullys..

Thanks for the link. Wow, information overload I'll have to study that one for a while. Maybe I'll try just sending them my specs and see if they'll just tell me what I need

    Electric Attex

I believe that there is an electric Attex at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit somewhere amongst everything else.

That's cool, I didn't know if any of the originals survived.
