    clutch question..

I posted earlier that I picked up a hustler with no motor. Well I bought a low mile Artic cat 440 fan cooled snowmobile to donate the engine, but when I pulled the belt cover off the clutch was huge...Can it be changed and to what? or am I stuck with a snowmobile(oh dam).Has anyone done this swap? and what about the direction of the engine rotation?

Engine rotation should be correct. Another thing that has to be correct is belt width. I believe the driven clutch uses a 1 3/16" wide belt. If the Cat has a belt try it in the driven clutch, it should sit flush with outside of clutch or less than 1/16" below flush. There are other clutches available for the tapered crankshaft 440 engine that are smaller but not as adjustable. Are you set on having a 2 stroke engine?

2 stroke can be made to run in either direction with minimal fuss, electric start motors are little more complicated.

Msa, no, I'm not set on a 2 stroke, I would prefer a 4 stroke but its a money thing. I got a good deal on this sled. Maybe I can sell it and put the money towards a four stroke, but I thought I'de check to see if it would work without much hassle, its low miles and electric start..

A 2 stroke will be a hot rod. If belt width is correct or the drive clutch can be shimmed to the narrower belt I think you can make it work fine.

If I pick up a vanguard 14 hp motor what clutch should I look for? I just want an all around fun toy,, is the 14 hp big enough or should I go bigger? Do I want a 1 inch shaft or a different size?
