I'm going to pull the carb & intake off of one of my back up pressure washers today and put it on the hustler. It is a 16hp. Hopefully that fixes it then I'll just have to get a new carb.
This is pretty much where I am at. I would still tinker with the briggs and see if I could get it running right but I am getting impatient. I just want to hit the trails and a few mud holes!!!!! ...
Also I am getting spark on both cylinders. I will post a video later.
The drill bit is a 1/16th. I have a extra jet that I could replace if I went too big.
Same issues without the air filter on. Nubs the carb that is on now is the 18hp carb. Eddieb that problem was there before I drilled out the jet, I'll get you a bit size here in a little bit.
I have a 18hp Vanguard with 14/16hp heads, thin head gaskets, and gov removed. The engine has not ran right since I put it in the hustler. I had it sitting in my garage as a backup for my power...
I'll check for a leak tonight and if no leak then I'll take it off and run it through the sonic cleaner at work. It worked fine on the other engine but it had been sitting for a few weeks.

Is there a need to re-jet the carb after putting 16hp heads on a 18hp? Engine won't run unless it is choked. I soaked the carb overnight and blew it out and it still doesn't want to run without the...
IT'S ALIVE! If I tell everyone what the problem was you can't make fun of me since I am not to engines(I work on cnc machine).....When I put the heads from the 14 on the 18 I set the valves too...
Ok....now we have spark, the 6 pole ignition is wired correctly, the gap on the coils are correct, COULD it be that my valves are too tight? Pulled the valve cover off to check things out and there...
There is spark on both plugs. I'll swap it out.
Me thinking at all is scary! I just set the gap for the coils to .010 and am now getting a faint spark when I pull the plug out but it does not attempt to start.
I'm just completely lost in the sauce. Is there something I could have done while swapping heads? I checked the plugs to make sure the Pistons weren't hitting them.
So I wired in the 6 pole ignition that came on the 18, still no spark. Checked clearance with the coils and it looks good. On pole two of the 6 pole it lists as the carb solenoid and it is present. I...
I never took the coils off. I just checked agin to make sure they both have good connection.
Removed the wire from kill stud, still no spark. The only wires going back to the motor are to the black kill stud wire, the red wire going to the regulator, the power wire for the starter and ground.

Thanks for the picture. My solenoid is under the seat and is different than the one that was on the starter. I'll post some pictures of what I got going here in a bit. I'm thinking I should convert...
