Just a thought....does anyone use snowmobile engines on these things? I have a Cuyana 440cc in a sled I'm not using. It would fit and it has a clutch.
You got a heck of a deal. Looks like your missing the shift lever. I don’t know nothin about hustlers but you def got a good deal. I would scrap the cuyuna motor if you wanna trail ride and go with a 4 stroker if ya can. Good luck with your project

You got a great deal! So the picture I pasted above is my machine and you can see the shift linkage framework. Your framework has been cut off for some reasons, so you will have to rebuild it. Those two arms coming off the transmission are the forward, neutral, reverse controls. I can get better pictures or measurements for you. Although my machine is a little different model, I believe all the frame and internal components are basically the same.
Thanks! I would love some up close pictures and measurements. I can build anything, I just need to know what to build.
By the way, what engine do you have?
gt...you definately got your moneys worth. should be a great project..j.b.
Thats a 20 horse briggs and stratton. I have another machine with the 18 horse version of the same engine.
Give us some pictures of the front frame area so we can see what may be missing there. I hope the previous owner didn't get rid of the shifter.
Since you have to rebuild the shift linkage and all, you may want to think about making it a split shift machine. That simply means each side of the transmission has its own position selector. This allows you to drive one set of wheels forward and the other set backwards. I don't have this feature but some say its really handy in tight spots.
The forward/reverse shifter is there. I'll post more pictures this afternoon. A split shifter sounds good. I just need to find out how. Is there a tutorial or something I could look at?
Also, what about this engine?

The picture of the handle you have here is the parking brake, the shifter would have been in/on the box to the outside of that which is not visible. The machine may have a model number on the warning plate on the upper body in the dash area above the shifter, though some Hustler had the model number actually on the original engines.
I'd assume that trans has been replaced since the shifter keepers are homemade and the parking brake disk is gone.
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
