    Hustler 980 Bigfoot I/C Resurrection

So a few weeks ago I picked up a Hustler 980 Bigfoot I/C, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, for $300 from a guy in El Paso, TX. He had a mechanic give it a tune up about a year ago and the mechanic was fired and disappeared with some parts. That's where I came in and low balled him and he accepted. I've attached some pictures after giving it a cleaning. I'm missing a carb, air filter, and the blower housing/shroud. If you google B&S model 422437-1266-01 you can find diagrams and parts for my engine, again correct me if in wrong.

This will be my build/information thread. I'll do my best to post pictures and narration of everything I do to resurrect the Bigfoot. Let me know what you guys think, right now I'm thinking about ordering the parts off part warehouse.com or Richard's relics but I'm open to any cost saving advice. Right now I'm not sure if I should get the 3 or 4 screw carb and how much of the missing stuff is critical to getting it running. Let me know if anyone needs more pictures of the engine to better see the situation I'm in.

    TienBien,

If you know anyone with a lawnmower shop you might be able to borrow a carb. I THINK the carb for the horizontal and vertical shaft 18 horse engines are the same....but im not completely sure. They are both oriented the same way.

Or, if you want to pay the shipping, I'll loan you my spare carb and you can give it a try. I took it apart yesterday and it was dirty so I soaked it overnight and will put it back together. It looks like it should run but I've never run it.

Good luck rounding up your parts. Let me know if you need pics. I have the same machine and it appears to be all stock and complete.
