In the other post i was talking about buzz said that the very best is middle because if you put the front 2, you can get up most ruts/holes but still have a hard time getting out, at the back its the...
Mattice, Ontario ... 1989 18hp magnum 8x8
i've been sick with the flu all day and in my nyquil induced high i realised that my guides are on an angle, the face of the guide facing the tire is not parallel to it, that lets the tire start...
Sorry I should say narrow deep ruts. And they were sidehilling too.
14 inches is to wide and the small ruts were twisting them all over the place. The machine was really hard to turn also. I wonder if half tracks on axles 2 and 3 would be better
so we went for a nice ride today. i have a few videos. I also found a flaw in my design, came back with only one track on -_- ... back to the drawing board. I need taller/sturdier guides
so I took them out yesterday for a little test run. had mud, rocks, hills, ditches. Only thing missing was the deep deep swampy muck. And I have to say they work really really well. i pulled my...
i heard too tall would damage the tires. Anyone have a confirmation on that?
yea i'm going to take it off the ground and use a ratchet strap to put them as tight as i can without overdoing it and re couple the tracks. Should be an easy fix over the weekend
@buzz i think my issue is the length, even with 6psi front and 5 psi back i still have a good 4 inches of space between the bottom of the tire and the inside of the track when i lift up the machine...
i took mine out to go fishing yesterday and they went great until i got home turning into the driveway i was starting to lose one on the back end, i backed up a little and it popped right back into...
are these the ones you made? if so, how much space is between the grousers/guides. if you have 4-5 inches in between them ditch the belting i get a whole lot more traction without the belting. if...
sounds good i will try and look that up. I really want to see your setup. I think i have a pretty good idea of how you have it done but a picture is worth a thousand words as they say. I'm going...
Oh that's not the trail, that's the road. it's funny because my gf says she is from the country because she grew up on a farm. I'm a bushman and we were arguing on if it was a road or a trail we...
i need it to climb out of mudholes and up riverbanks without having to winch myself up all the time. its mostly swamp (beaver dams) and fields with a little bit of bush trails. I went to see the...
i was considering using flatbar to connect to the existing belting on the tracks. mount the flatbar to the extentions and pre-drill holes in the tracks. Simply bolt on to the tracks when winter...
so far in turns they seem to stay on but like i said i was only out for about a half hour this afternoon in between rain showers. i'm guessing it will be harder on the bearings and the machine...
Not sure what to do for videos so I put it on youtube. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaitWS3FoFo&feature=youtu.be
i haven't had much time to test as it is raining today and i don't have a lot of places i can go right from my house. Here are the pictures and the video as promised. My little cousin drove it for...
